Velana International Airport
Opened on 19 October 1960, Velana International Airport (VIA) is the main international airport in the Maldives and the main gateway into the Maldives, providing connectivity to all the regional airports in the Maldives. The capital city Male’ is 10 minutes away from the airport.
Fly your tropical way to the island of Kudahuvadhoo, the capital of Dhaalu Atoll. Kudahuvadhoo is famous for some of its landmarks such as the old mosque of the island which is renowned for its craftsmanship, especially for its coral stone carvings and masonry and has one of the mysterious mound known as hawittas, which dates back to the Buddhist periods of the Maldives. Kudahuvadhoo is also near one of the most famous surf points in the Maldives known as hadigillaa among local surfers.
Dharavandhoo Airport was opened on 17 October 2012. This island of Dharavandhoo is surrounded by clear waters known as Dharavandhoo Thila and Hanifaru Bay; which are famous amongst divers around the world, for it is a sanctuary for a variety of marine life, including manta rays and whale sharks. This globally renowned eco-life zone is now strictly protected by law.
